By Shannon Hale & Dean Hale

Suitable age: 8 and above

Written by Shannon and Dean Hale, Squirrel Meets World is a novel based on the comic book character: Squirrel Girl. Teenager Doreen Green moves to a shady neighbourhood in New Jersey. She begins to help distressed citizens when her newest enigmatic archenemy steps out of the shadows and starts a vicious vendetta against the young superhero. Despite the book’s lack of sophisticated vocabulary, effective writing strategies, and somewhat childish storyline, this novel is rich by means of the plot. The authors fail to stress the invention of the protagonist’s pseudonym; Squirrel Girl. The plot is extremely well thought out and bears a humorous and endearing protagonist and antagonist. This book is not recommended for learners attempting to enrich their terminology but rather a novel meant for pure entertainment.
