Written by Jason Reynolds, this book concerns Miles Morales, part time super hero part time lame schoolboy with a crush, who is still haunted by the ghost of his uncle attempted to murder him. Worse still, whenever he enters his history class, led by the infamous Mr Chamberlain who rants on about the advantages of slavery and the Confederates, his spider sense dysfunctions. The plot and characters are strong but the fight scenes are rather bland. The novel’s villains are creative and witty. Recommended for Marvel comic fans, especially Spider Man fans, this book is a great transition of Miles Morales from comic illustrations to novel pages.
